Kosmic Renaissance is a collaboration between three outstanding musicians from the Bay Area: David Boyce, Shingo Annen and Sameer Gupta. Together they explore the edges of jazz, hip-hop and electronic music with sounds layered in groovy, mesmerizing improvisational loops and textures.
David Boyce, aka Osiris Black Edgar Kenyatta, aka Oskar Phat, aka Dogon 318, is one of the founding members of Bay Area acid jazz legends Broun Fellinis. David has an amazing array of pedals and electronics, and is considered by many to be a master of both the saxophone and the musicbox.
Shingo Annen, aka Shing02, is a well-respected Japanese hip-hop producer/MC with a number of recordings. Shingo brings to Kosmic Renaissance his own invention, The Vestax Faderboard, and the ARP Odyssey.
Percussionist Sameer Gupta is the only member of Kosmic Renaissance to play with no digital manipulation. With drumset and tabla, Sameer performs with grace and agility. Founder of The Supplicants, Sameer is a rare and valued voice on today's music scene.
