Translated and published in Kannada, in 1928, ‘Vicharane’ deals with the happenings in the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus. It is the night of betrayal by Judas, after Jesus had his last supper with the ten disciples. Jews capture Jesus and present him before the Chieftains of Jerusalem, who in turn present him before Pontius Pilate, a political representative of Roman Empire in Jerusalem. Pilate wanting to avoid Jesus pushes him towards King Herad (King of Israel), who after not being able to find him guilty, sends him back to Pilate. Finally Pilate is forced to act at the behest of fanatic Jews. This poignant drama has been enacted twice convincingly by the students of the National Degree College Basavanagudi Autonomous. Infact, both the performances have been widely acclaimed for its production values. It has won several awards on both the occasions.
