Suresh Talwalkar, one of the eminent tabla exponents and renowned gurus, has contributed immensely to the nurture and spread of Indian Classical Music. He was initiated into the art of tabla by his father, Dattatray Talwalkar and was later under the tutelage of the veteran gurus, Pandharinath Nageshkar and Vinayakrao Ghangrekar. He also learnt the intricacies of Carnatic Layashastra from the renowned mridangam player, Ramnad Ishwaran. This diverse training enabled him to imbibe the subtleties of both the North and the South Indian music traditions, giving a unique expression to his performances.
