Massachusetts Area South Asian Lambda Association (MASALA) invites you to our annual event the MASALA Mela, the largest Asian Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) community event in New England Mela 08 will be held on Saturday, October 11th, 9pm-2am at nightclub MACHINE 1254 Boylston Street, Boston.
This is an annual event held in October to mark the anniversary of MASALA, which was founded in 1994. With last year being our largest Mela to date attracting over 300 individuals, the Steering Committee is actively promoting Mela 08 to top 400. The evening is filled with South Asian culture, food, music and our own performances. In the past part of the evenings proceeds have benefited organizations fostering LGBT visibility and health care in Boston and in South Asia.
This year Mela also coincides with National Coming Out Day, which is an internationally observed civil awareness day for coming out and discussion about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender issues. It is observed on October 11 by members of the LGBT community and their supporters
