Sangam means confluence. It is a convergance of talent and culture, a blend of emotions, the birthplace of cognizance, a cohesion of beliefs and confidence. Sangam is a much awaited event for the Indian Students Association (ISA) at UTD throughout the year. It is a platform for natural endowment. It is an event which brings out the best in everyone, an event where decisions are taken to even place a tiniest pebble in the right place.
Sangam is organized in the month of November every year. It is the only event of ISA for which tickets are sold and largely publicized. It brings out dexterity within a student. Over the period of time, when we drove a graph of Indian students coming to UTD, we observed a shooting graph, a graph with 45 degree inclination. With new students came new talents. With such immense talent surrounding, we decided that a platform should be provided, a platform to hone the ability of an individual in front of a huge audience. Sangam is driven by the only belief that every individual is imbibed with a great potential and that should be recognized, valued and respected.
Sangam has always aimed at creating home away from home and to help in the personality development of a person. Sangam has a story line and a variety of performances circulating around it depicting the culture of various states in India. A story is told in the form of songs, dance, skits, plays, etc. To lighten the mood there will be fillers and standup comedy. It also showcases Fashion show where young lads and lasses absorb the audience with their poise. Mimicry, Street plays, Mad ads are some of the other attractions. It also adds an extra flavor by having a live band raving on the strings and keys.
