POPULAR ISLAM AND SUFI CULTURE IN INDIA - Meet Yousuf Saeed, documentary filmmaker from Delhi, India.
An introduction to art, music and cultural practices around Sufi shrines in rural and urban North India. The illustrated lecture will include short video films called "Basant" (12 mins), "Sufi Sama" (14 mins), and "The Train to Heaven" (7 mins), besides several other short audio and video clips and popular images of practiced Islam from South Asia. Films have English subtitles.
In partnership with the University of Connecticut-Stamford and Namaskaar Foundation.
