Chitra Dasarathy Chandrasekhar presents SAUMANESA (The Flowering Tree). Chitra re-tells this well known folk tale from Karnataka through Bharatanatyam, integrating diverse musical influences with her innovative solo choreography. The journey begins when a woman dances and becomes a flowering tree. They are both creative spirits and that is where their kinship lies. This is a story of fantasy - of one’s ability to excel and create, of love, memory, pain, insensitivity, greed and rejuvenation. Music by Guru C.V. Chandrasekhar, Chitra, and traditional sources.
