NCPA presents MUDRA FESTIVAL themed this year around animal symbolism in Indian mythology. Mudra dance festival is a thematic dance festival curated by the NCPA every year around International dance day (29th April). After having themes like motherhood, Bhakti poetry and colours, Mudra 2016 is woven around the influence of animals and their movements in dance. From Nandi, the vehicle of Lord Shiva to the tribal Goddess Manasa, Mudra 2016 promises a treat for all story lovers. Through various dance and martial arts presented by some of the most talented young performers of today, the festival would delve deep into theme by unearthing new stories and creating new movements.

MANASA CHARITAM, the tale of the Snake Goddess, Kathakali by Probal Gupta, is a unique presentation of a Bengali folk tale on the tribal Goddess Manasa in Kathakali and paintings inspired from the traditional Patachitra paintings of Bengal.
