MARA is choreographed and directed by Mythili and Aditya Prakash. Inspired by Mara, the demonic character from Buddhist Lore, who attempted to keep Buddha from achieving Enlightenment, this production visualizes MARA as our very own mind that projects the world that we experience: Our thoughts, emotions, relationships, etc. The show features Aditya Prakash Ensemble in a musical score of their signature blend of Indian classical music, jazz, funk, and global sounds, dance choreography by Mythili performed by her and dancers of the Shakti Dance Company, lighting by Eileen Cooley and multimedia projection by video artist Kate Johnson.
