Geeta Chandran receives the SWAMI SHRI MEGHASHYAM SHARMA AWARD (named after the renowned poet and musician of Braj). The award recognizes Geeta Chandran’s sustained commitment to reviving dance performances in Vrindavan temples (under the valued guidance of her Guru, Acharya Shrivatsa Goswami of Sri Chaitanya Prema Samsthana, and who is also an earlier recipient of this honour).The award includes an angavastarm, a tamra patra and a cash purse of Rs. 21,000. Following the award ceremony, Geeta and her Natya Vriksha Dance Company will also be performing the Raas Nritya celebrating life, beauty and aesthetics.
