Diwali - The Festival of Lights is by far the grandest of Indian festivals. Through the medium of our annual Diwali celebrations - Deepotsav 2010 we aim to highlight the richness and variety of Indian culture.
As the main event in the program, we are hosting performances of Indian dance and music, performed by both Rice students and non-Rice professional artists from Houston. The event will begin with an exhibition of classical Indian music and dance performances that span a broad range of styles. This will be followed by a dance perfomance from Rice students set to some foot-tapping Bollywood numbers that will get everyone in the audience up onto the dance floor. Finally we plan to conclude the event with a grand Indian dinner.
