Cast: Unni Mukundan, Asif Ali, Isha TalwarDirection: B UnnikrishnanGenre: ThrillerDuration: 2 hours 1 minute
Xavi and Prem; two thugs are hired to commit a murder. The reason and the identity of the target remain a mystery and both of them have the shock of their life when they find out who the target is. B Unnikrishnan's 'I Love Me' mainly revolves around four different characters; two spoilt young thugs, a broke businessman and a girl who holds the mystery together.
Anoop Menon plays Ram Mohan, who hires the killers, morphs himself into a brooding, cryptic presence who would talk only when required to do so. Unnikrishnan lavishes his plot with slowly-paced stunt sequences generously offering Unni Mukundan, who plays Xavy, a lot of opportunities to flaunt his chiselled physique.
Asif Ali at the other end comes across as the flirtatious, detached dandy with a tinge of menace. Every event in the film is woven in such a manner that it looks knotty. Beyond a point, the movie falls flat with sequences stretched along without any apparent motives.
Review: The characters come together, exchange dialogues, engage in fights and disappear. Towards the end, twists appear one after another ruining the narrative. 'I Love Me' does not come across as one of those riveting thrillers that would push you to the edge of the seats. It is rather a complex tale treated with a certain amount of laxity that drains the narrative of its much needed vibrancy and suspense.
