Cast: Lal, Vinay, Sajitha MadathilDirection: Joy MathewGenre: DramaDuration: 2 hours
Story: The movie showcases certain events in the life of Rasheed, a gulf-returnee, who picks up a prostitute for one night and has to go through tense moments for the remaining two days.
Review: Shutter is a sweet film and almost every single character can lay a claim to this sweetness. Director Joy Mathew extracts improbable, sometimes magical moments, from a situation that is crushing. A gulf-returnee finds himself trapped in a stuffy, empty shop room with a hooker and in the ensuing moments of uncertainty, he faces a probable debasement and some realizations that he would never have known otherwise.
One night, after a noisy binge with his pals, Rasheed - a stunning performance by Lal - sees a woman (SajithaMadathil) at a bus stop. She is plainly dressed and has a face devoid of emotions. In a moment of passion, Rasheed finds himself drawn to her and his friend Sura, an auto-driver ( Vinay), suggests they hook up in his shop. Sura leaves for buying food and he locks the shop. Rasheed constantly peeps through the small vent and sees his own home nearby and then the street facing the shop. A man, who had given in to a momentary whim, is soon facing an impending debasement and the guilt of betrayal. The small window and a vent in the shutter is his link to society and his family.
