Was the death of Silk Smitha a suicide? Or was it a murder? These mysteries are probed in “Climax” .
The film goes back into the unknown past of the voluptuous lady who ruled South Indian Film world with her sensuous performance. "Climax" comes very close to reality, showing the meteoric rise of Smitha, her loneliness and her untimely death. The makers of “Climax” claim that the Hindi film “The Dirty Picture” is not a true story of Smitha and the real story is being brought to the screen by “Climax”.
“Climax” is being directed by Anil. Story is by Antony Eastman who introduced Andhrite Vijayalakshmi to the Malayalam film fans. Her growth from Vijayalakshmi to Smitha is well documented and perhaps no one knows it better than Antony. Antony’s story is made into screenplay by Kaloor Dennis who had written screenplays for at least ten of Silk Smitha’s films. Incidentally, Kaloor Dennis is returning to films after a long gap.
The movie is being produced by PJ Thomas under the banner of Nice Movies. Sana Khan, a Mumbai model, actress and herself half Malayalee, plays the role of Supriya the actress in the movie. Suresh Krishna, newcomes Subin Sunny, Nishan, Baburaj, Lakshmi Sharma, EA Rajendran, Manuraj, Santhi and Cherthala Lalitha are also cast in important parts. K.Madhu, Viji Thambi and Thambi Kannandanam also appear in the film. Baby Ignatius tunes the lyrics of Vayalar Sharathchandra Varma.
