Cast: Suriya, Anushka, Hansika Motwani, Vivekh, Rahman, Mukesh Rishi, Danny Sapani, Santhanam
Direction: Hari
Genre: Action
Duration: 2 hours 47 minutes
Synonpsis: At the end of 'Singam', Duraisingam (Suriya) is given a secret assignment by the home minister to put an end to the smuggling mafia in Tuticorin. He joins a local school as NCC teacher and starts collecting information on the gangs operating in the area. Due to a caste disturbance, he is forced to cut short his surveillance work and rejoin duty. From then on, it is a full frontal assault on the smugglers.
Review: If 'Singam' was mass masala, then 'Singam-2' is doubly so. Hari is clear about what entertainment he wants to dole out to his audiences, and goes about delivering it unapologetically. So, we have an introduction item song for Suriya, though it is shown as a cover for his surveillance activity. And soon after, we are shown that though he may have stopped wearing a cop's uniform, he is still at the top of his game when he easily solves a case of stolen exam question papers. This is followed by an action sequence to show that though he may have taken up a softer job, Duraisingam has not lost his edge in beating up thugs to a pulp, and the opportunity for this arises when a student's father crashes into the school as the national anthem is being sung during assembly and starts threatening teachers with his thugs.
It is fun to watch a slick commercial film and 'Singam-2' doesn't disappoint,
