Story: The film tracks the eventful course taken by four boys who escape from a child care home.
Pottas Bomb has an undeniable genuineness, both about the characters and the plot. It's about the boys in a child care home who conjure up colourful dreams about the world outside while being in confinement. Even for all its discernible flaws which range from an unevenly shaped narrative to the lack of coherence, the film throws up moments of pure honesty, although rarely.
Four inmates escape from the care home on a rainy night, each of them driven by an urge to rake up enough money. They end up in the company of local goon, a surprise transformation effected with control by Indrans. The desire for money hurtles them along a jolty path ridden with despair and frustration finally venting out in spasms of guilt and grief.
Pottas Bomb turns out to be a nicely conceived film except on occasions when it slips into maudlin sequences involving romance and an inexplicable way of evoking mystery with the sole purpose of complicating a seemingly direct, simple plot. This complexity is rather enforced by the crude structure of the narrative which never actually gels with the non-linear mode.
The characters, all four of them, reflect dreams and desperation in their eyes, in their aimless sprint and even in their helpless glances they throw at each other towards the end.
