    Uyyala Jampala Review - 1/8/2014 6:08:30 AM
Story: Close relatives, Suri (Raj) and Uma Devi (Avika) grow up together living next door to each other. They are made for each other but Suri takes a while to figure that out.

Movie Review: It's a simple good natured love story without the usual frills - over the top romantic numbers, melodrama or smart Alec style philisophising about the nature of love or fidelity and the works that we usually see in Telugu cinema. Yes, it does play on the "Bawa-Maradalu love" that has been explored in countless Telugu films but the subtleties in screenplay and cinema sensibility separates it from the rest.

It's hard to recall the last time such feel good romance was made in Telugu. Nuvve Kavali (made in 2000) was the last perhaps. Unlike that Tarun - Richa starrer, this film doesn't pack in the mandatory five songs, forced comedy track and a heavy climax and from a filmmaking stand point, this movie accomplishes much more.

Set in the backdrop of a village, the film offer just enough glimpses of reality in the characterizations and the ambience it packs in. Be it the village setting or the slant of Telugu we get a reasonably authentic flavor of coastal Andhra.

The acting by debutantes Raj and Avika are easily the most endearing part of the movie. Though Avika has the author backed role, Raj might just have stolen the thunder with his natural performance.
