Monayi Angane Aanayi Review - 7/5/2014 12:46:03 PM
Santhosh Khan's 'Monayi Angane Aanayi' is an exercise in pointlessness that is likely to make you twitch your eyebrows in exasperation. With an uneventful former half and a dull second, there is very little about it that will get you all perked up in anticipation.

Monayi (Aju Varghese) drops in from a village somewhere in Central Kerala to the state capital, where his cousin- confidante Kuttan (Hari Nair) is a student at an engineering college. He wins over the hearts of everyone around in a jiffy, though people around remain at a daze as to what kind of a person he truly is.

Kuttan in love with his college mate (Deepthi), finds his romance in trouble, when her father decides to get her married to someone else. As they decide to get their marriage registered, a bolt from the blue arrives revealing that Kuttan is yet to turn 21. Someone suggests that Monayi step in instead of Kuttan to get the job done, and he agrees.

When Monayi and his new bride are whisked off to her house, contrary to her expectations, by her dad, the film reaches a stand still. It refuses to move any further forward and keeps dilly dallying forever and ever, until you simply cannot take it anymore.

The script which doesn't even have a clue as to where it's headed is a downer from the very first minute. As Monayi, Kuttan and their friends try hard to bring in some amusement, you feel sorry for them, as nothing seems to work here; neither the characterization, nor the youngsters' antics.
