Review: 8:20 has a story that was probably never told before in Mollywood. It has one song in which the leading lady appears ravishing and dreamy. However, the final product proves that a novel plot isn't all that is required to churn out a sensible film. Shyam and Ruchi are stylish youngsters with their set of confusions and priority clashes that mar their happiness. As they inch forward amid trials and tribulations, an unexpected phenomenon sneaks into their lives and establishes itself as a scary reality.
The first half of the film is replete with amateurish comedy and acting, unnecessary 'new-generation' sounds and sequences that trigger massive yawns. One wonders why certain comedy punchlines of yesteryear movies are wasted on the film's barely-humorous scenes and characters sketched as buffoons. Until the interval, 8:20 gives an impression that the director is merely concentrating on ticking off all the elements of commercial filmmaking.
Then it gets down to what it actually wants to show. Then on, the film beckons with a bit of thrill. The thoughts on - will she, will she not? - would start bothering the audience too. Sadly, the script is often sloppy to leave an impact or entertain the aud
