Fahadh Faasil, Sana Altaf, Manoj K JayanGenre: DramaDuration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Synopsis: A miracle happens in a seaside village that turns around the lives of its inhabitants.
Review: A sea-side village with a Latin American history, Fahad Fazil as the lead actor with an exotic beauty as his lady love; you settle down to watch James Albert's Mariyam Mukku expecting a quaint love story. What you get is a series of pointless gang wars, a half-baked romance, unnecessary songs, and a weak, almost non-existent, plot.
Fahad Fazil is Felix, an orphan brought up by Mariyanashan, his late father's friend. He is the local gang leader in a village full of naive fishermen, where lawlessness is the order of the day. A miracle happens, turning around the lives of everyone in the village. However, the film appears more like a long-winded school play than anything else, with the script failing to engage you.
Half an hour into the film and you realize that the story hasn't begun yet, beyond showcasing life in the village and its history. It is only towards the second-half that there is the semblance of a story, but only the patient might be willing to sit through the repetitive fight sequences and bland dialogues to reach there. At points, the story even reminds you of Chemmeen, with a greedy father who breaks his word to old faithful Felix and decides to marry off his daughter to a more enterprising man.
