    Mili Movie Review - 2/12/2015 9:32:25 PM
Amala Paul, Nivin Pauly, PraveenaDirection: Rajesh PillaiGenre: FamilyDuration

Story: Though a renowned professor's daughter, Mili grew up as an edgy, below-average student. She gradually gains confidence, makes better choices and emerges a winner in her little world, thanks to a handful of well-wishers who guide her.

Review: A 'plain Jane turns cool' tale is given a facelift and unfolds as Mili. Rajesh Pillai's film is a sincere attempt to lay bare the plight of many browbeaten youngsters in this 'be-a-topper-or-live-pointless' era. They evolve as spiritless adults weighed down by expectations, while all they simply needed were shoulders of support and a bit of hand-holding. The tale holds a mirror to this commonplace phenomenon around us.

A goofy girl, Mili's personality is stuck between the traditional and modern concepts of poise. She has a mind of her own, but has hardly taken self-assured steps in her life and whenever she has, they have backfired. A kindergarten teacher, being with kids, is what makes her happy, but unforeseen events land the timid girl in a soup. However, Mili is lucky being surrounded by a few people, who go the extra mile to help her. The film belongs to Amala Paul and she infuses the right amount of vulnerability, naughtiness, restraint and helplessness that Mili encounters and captures the character nuances. Especially, her body language and expressions that bring out the inner turmoil is spot on.
