In view of the 48-hour bandh call given by the Telangana Joint Action Committee in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh from tomorrow, police have sought additional central forces for deployment in the city to avert any untoward incidents that may raise the crisis to new heights.
Policemen are even fearing suicides that may egg others to increase the violence.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan told reporters here that a request for additional central forces for deployment near the Assembly and Osmania University (OU) in particular, has been made.
"Security arrangements and preventive measures are in place, but we are concentrating on enhancing security near the Assembly and Osmania University and sought for additional forces to prevent agitators from indulging in violence during the bandh period," he said.
As part of its plans to intensify the agitation for separate statehood for the region, the Telangana Joint Action Committee has given a bandh call on February 22 and 23 in all the 10 districts of Telangana region.
