| Now, 11 years after NTR died, superstar Balakrishna in a rare television interview, told NDTV that he could make a surprise entry into Andhra politics, just like his father did in 1982.
"May be, you never know. Nobody expected my father would join politics. He didn't even inform the family members about it. One fine morning he flew from Madras to Hyderabad and announced the party,'' said Balakrishna, actor.
It's an extremely significant open-ended comment that could galvanise the cadres of the Telugu Desam, the party NTR founded.
Second innings
Though Balakrishna's elder brother Harikrishna is with the TDP, he is not part of Chandrababu Naidu's inner circle.
But for now, Balakrishna is busy waiting for how the audience reacts to his latest film, Maharadhi in which he says he plays more than just the angry young man role that he is so famous for.
"I am being shown in three get-ups. One as a musician, a dancer and the third is very different. A rough guy with a beard, a rugged man. A ruffian,'' said Balakrishna.
The superstar was in the news for allegedly shooting at two of his associates in June 2004. Many predicted his career would go downhill.
But Balayya, as he is fondly called, was acquitted eight months later and hopes to rise like the phoenix.
