Bollywood Funk NYC is New York City's only dance school specializing in Bollywood Funk, a fusion dance style incorporating jazz, hip-hop & funk with the flavor of Bollywood masala (performed to popular Hindi/Bollywood music).

We are currently auditioning dancers to become students of our advanced level class, with future performance opportunities (paid and non-paid), as we grow and progress.

IMPORTANT: Due to the specific nature of our school's focus and culture, we are ONLY auditioning those dancers who:

1) have an established, significant passion, knowledge and interest in popular Hindi/Bollywood films, music and culture

2) are keen to help become an active part in representing, promoting and growing our innovative, trend-setting organization and community.

Those chosen to become students of the Advanced level class will:

-Learn the "art of performing", trade secrets and technique from a highly experienced Bollywood/Modern Jazz/Hip Hop/Funk dancer/choreographer.

-Be part of an innovative training program that provides high quality dance instruction/training and PERSONAL ATTENTION and DEVELOPMENT to every dancer.

-Increase efficiency, improve technique and increase their versatility as a dancer in general.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

-An established, significant passion, knowledge and interest in popular Hindi/Bollywood films, music, culture and dance trends.

-Willing and eager to actively participate in our events in and outside of classes.

-A commitment to attending weekly class, plus extra practice/rehearsals as needed.

-PREFERRED: training in jazz-based dance style/s, such as: funk, hip-hop, modern jazz.

-OPTIONAL: training in Indian classical/traditional/folk/bhangra/etc.

-Prior public stage performance experience and comfort.

-Ability to learn and retain choreography at an accelerated pace.

-A strong sense of spirit, teamwork and collaboration.

-We will contact you to confirm your interest & audition date/time.

-Audition will consist of performing your own prepared dance routine and learning/performing a sequence taught in a group setting.
