Dakshina Palli, Inc. is an arts and cultural organization based in NYC preserving the Bharata natyam dance lineage of the late great dancer T. Balasaraswati. Classes are taught by Artistic Director: Mr. Jaan R. Freeman who is a disciple of Smt. Nandini Ramani and Smt. Priyamvada Sankar ( both were senior disciples of T. Balasaraswati).
Classes will be for boys and girls ages 7-17 who wish to learn in this intensive 5 week or 8 week session.
5 weeks= June 30-Aug1 Fee: $450
8 weeks= June 30 -Aug 22 Fee: $690
Time:
10:30am-11:30- Basic steps students will go through an intensive workout of rhythmic footowork, hand gestures and coordination of the left and right side of the body.
11:30-11:45- BREAK
11:45-12:30 Theory students will learn hastas (hand gestures) singl and double, movements of the neck, eyes and standing postures, guru mantra and class etiquette
