Seeking a nanny in Eagan, Minnesota to care for our 2 children (2 1/2-year-old boy and 6-7-month-old girl). Start date negotiable, but thinking sometime in March to April 2015. Position full-time initially. After 8-12 months likely transition to part- time. End date undecided. Salary negotiable. Serious applicants only. Care of our infant daughter will be primary focus, thus someone with experience with infants is required. Light housekeeping in terms of pick-up and maintaining the environment. May ask for occasional laundry for infant. Meal preparation involves heating of breast milk and cooking simple vegetarian meals. Own transportation preferred - to pick up our 2-year-old son from Montessori school around midday. We are looking for someone who is sensitive to attachment parenting, understanding the role of the caregiver in the child's development. Someone who is emotionally mature and balanced, open-minded, joyful, warm and empathic in her approach with children. Most importantly, we do not believe in any kind of punishment or time-outs and appreciate skills that involve understanding of children and creative ways to handle difficult situations. Caregivers who nature walks, and are creative and engaging with children are a plus. Reading and play are encouraged rather than screen time (TV). An interest in music and/or drama is a plus along with a love of arts and crafts. We are a bicultural family (wife Asian Indian; husband Caucasian). Married for over 10 years. We are currently completing our doctoral residencies in Clinical Psychology. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment and prefer a live out nanny for these reasons, but may be able to accommodate. Full background check with references will be required for final applicants. Interview process will likely involve a mock half-day (paid) with children and parents to better understand caregiver's personality and approach with children.
