Chhandayan is organising a music concert of Sugato Nag - Sitar, Samir Chatterjee - Tabla.
Sugato Nag was born into a musical family of Kolkata, Sugato Nag is fast emerging as one of the finest sitar virtuosi amongst the present generation. In today''s fast-changing world of Indian classical music, Sugato represents a dwindling populace of learned musicians, having had systematic taleem from some of the most respected purists of this art.
At the tender age of eight, Sugato started taking his music lessons from the late Shri Anil Roy Chowdhury (1910-1977), an erudite sarodiya of the famed Seniya Shahjahanpore Gharana. After the untimely demise of Shri Roy Chowdhury, Sugato was accepted as a disciple by the doyen of the aforementioned gharana, sarode maestro Pandit Radhika Mohan Maitra (1917-1981). Until the maestro''s passing, Sugato received training in all aspects of sitar playing under the former''s rigorous discipline, and his musical personality took a concrete form.
