The French Kiss Tour
The French Kiss Tour
 INDIA , 19-June-2007  0:19:30 AM
Of all the myriad qualities that it possesses, it is perhaps the fact that it is truly a universal language, which is responsible for music being such an integral part of human existence

Little wonder then, that all cultures, irrespective of everything, make it a point to celebrate the existence and power of music. The Fête de la Musique is one such celebration. Also known as the World Music Festival, the Fête de la Musique is a festival that promotes music, irrespective of genres in an effort to make it accessible to the general public.

Launched in France in 1982, the Fête de la Musique is held every year on the Summer Solstice Day, the 21st of June. It has since spread over to various parts of the globe including cultures and countries as diverse as Belgium, Britain, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, China, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, and Pakistan, where it is celebrated as a mark of solidarity to the essential spirit of music bringing together humankind.

For the Indian musical lovers this year, the celebrations take on a wider scope than just a one day musical festival. The Fête de la Musique in the year 2007 becomes the axis for a nine-city musical expedition that showcases a new generation of French artists that create music which veers into various diverse genres such as rock, hip-hop and jazz.

Mademoiselle K, Anais and Emily Loizeau are three of the most popular recording and performing artists in France today and they will share the stage with Indian bands like No Idea, SOAP and Span, all of whom, like their French counterparts for France, represent the new and emerging India.

The event is put together by the French Embassy in India, S/Z Productions in France, SACEM, CulturesFrance, the Alliance Française network in India. The event is executed by RIFF Entertainment. Tour Plan
