The Sangati Center is organizing a Music Concert featuring Gaurav Mazumdar on sitar and Kuntal Roy on tabla.
One of the most sought-after and versatile musicians of the present generation, Gaurav Mazumdar hails from a family of well known musicians of Allahabad (India).His early career in music began with vocal music, then violin. He was taught by his uncle J.D.Mazumdar, cousins Kamala Bose and Jayashree Roy, his father Dulal Mazumdar and Pandit Nandkishore Vishwakarma.
Kuntal Roy, a well known performer based in Kolkata, was initiated into tabla by Sri Narayan Chandra Halder. He continued his studies with Sri Radha Raman Nath, a student of Pt. Anindo Chatterjee. Roy has been a disciple of Pt. Shankar Ghosh since 1991, and has given both solo and accompanying performances and tabla workshops in India. He performs with energy & enthusiasm.
