You are invited to join Bal Gokulam group of young (mid 30's) North Indian Hindu’s from No.VA, Washington,DC metro area who appreciate poojas and enjoy going to mandir as well as other outdoor activities, road trips, and other local activities (e.g. holi, diwali, melas, durga pooja, janmashtmi, etc).
This group is for married or single people, and are simply looking for a new group of friends to go to mandir and hang-out with. You have to be caring, friendly and fun!
Admission to most hindu temples is free, however self-pay for Prasad, donations, vegetarian lunch/dinner & non-alcoholic drinks afterwards. Although this group is open to vegetarians and non-vegetarians, since we will be going to temple when we meet, you are encouraged to be vegetarian at least on the days we meet so the smell of your meal does not ruin the activity for the rest of us.
Let’s plan to meet up on the second Saturday or Sunday of every month for the evening aarti at local Hindu temples in the Washington,DC/metro area such as Durga Temple, Rajdhani Mandir, Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, Hare Krishna Temple, and Hindu Temple. The place and time will vary depending on the aarti/pooja schedule. After Aarti and Prasad we can go out for vegetarian dinner/desserts or coffee/chai!
Let me know which day is your preference (of the second Saturday or Sunday) and I will try to organize the meet-up to accommodate the most number of people every month. if you are aware of special functions at specific temples for that month!
For the month of January I have selected the first meeting of the NOVA Bal Gokulam group of young (mid 30's) North Indian Hindu’s will be the second Sunday, January 13th for the 6:30pm aarthi at Durga Temple.
