Fresh complaint filed in Goa rape
Goa minister's wife in soup over German girl's rape
 INDIA , 18-October-2008  6:2:3 AM
Fadela Fuchs, mother of the minor German girl allegedly raped by Goa Education Minister Babush Monserrate's son Rohit, has now filed a fresh complaint against the minister's wife Jennifer.

In her complaint, she said that on October 3, Jennifer had visited her house along with two other women, and tried to coax her to withdraw the complaint.

Jennifer had earlier denied these allegations. But the girl's mother has given the police a piece of paper in which she claims Jennifer personally wrote down her name and mobile numbers.

Fuchs is now demanding that Jennifer be booked for threatening her to withdraw the complaint.

Five held

Meanwhile, five people have been arrested from Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra for assault on Rodrigues, police said on Saturday.

The combined team of Goa and Maharashtra police arrested Jenito Godinho, Santosh Shinde, Sandeep Pujari, Michael Jhonson Chakkal and Anison Nunes from a resort in Mahabaleshwar on Friday.

A police official said the accused, who have been brought to Goa, will be produced before a magistrate later on Saturday.

The arrest of the five men has taken the number of those detained for involvement in the case to eight.

Three other people were held the day after the assault. They were picked up from the constituency of the Education Minister, who had accused the police of harassing people from his ward.

Rodrigues, a high court lawyer and rights activist, was assaulted by a group of masked men on Monday night while having dinner with a colleague at a restaurant in Panaji. He lost two fingers in the attack.

"The Education Minister is behind the attack on me. On the day I was attacked I was warned by several of Monserrate's friends against taking up Fadela's complaint," Aires had told reporters.
