| As Anil Ambani helicopter sabotage case took a mysterious turn with the death of a witness, Maharashtra government on Wednesday said no evidence has been found to suggest that a "corporate rivalry between two groups" was behind the incident.
A day after Bharat Borge, who spotted the pebbles in the fuel tank of the industrialist's chopper, was found dead on a railway track, state Home Minister Jayant Patil said, "We have not found any evidence that there is a corporate rivalry between two groups and that is why this had happened."
Patil told reporters, "So it is nothing of that sort and the police is heading towards the correct conclusion".
The Anil Ambani Group has alleged that business rivals may be behind an "attempt to murder" the industrialist by trying to sabotage his helicopter.
Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner Rakesh Maria and Additional DGP (Railway Police) K P Raghuvanshi said on Tuesday night that Borge's death was a case of suicide. Maria also said the motorman and the guard of a fast local saw the victim cross the track even when the train was fast approaching
According to GRP sources, the letter recovered from Borge's person said some "Reliance" people came to see him and questioned him but he did not say anything and that he also felt they will do something to him. It was not clear to which the Reliance group he was referring to.
Borge's letter also said he had done nothing wrong and that the investigations into the alleged sabotage was going on the right track and that the Crime Branch will do a fair job, they said.
