| Campaigning for the 15th Lok Sabha is slated to end on Monday with a big political showdown between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in picturesque Kullu in Himachal Pradesh.
Both Rahul and Modi would end their over a month-long campaign trail with rallies at Kullu part of Mandi Lok Sabha seat, where the four seats would go to vote on May 13.
Rahul and Modi both tipped as future prime ministerial candidates of their parties are scheduled to address three election rallies each in Kullu and neighbouring Mandi for the final phase of campaigning on Monday.
While Rahul will start the day with a rally at Dhalpur ground at Kullu, Modi's journey will commence from Hamirpur where he would seek support for Anurag Thakur, BJP candidate for Hamirpur seat and son of chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
Modi would end his campaign trail with a rally at Bhuntar in Kullu, about 10 km from Dhalpur ground, the venue of Rahul's meeting. But, their rallies are separated by two hours. While Rahul rally is scheduled at 1 pm, Modi's is 3 pm.
Earlier, a face-off between the two leaders was averted with Kullu district administration on order of Election Commission of India canceled Modi's rally in the adjoining Dhalpur ground coinciding with Rahul's meeting.
BJP which had applied for permission later was told to hold its rally at Bhuntar's Hathithan ground, 10 km away.
With the two political bigwigs in the town, a lot of firework is expected. The administration has made elaborate security arrangements to see the day pass peacefully
