Nandan M Nilekani will take charge as the head of the Unique Identification Authority of India on Thursday and has sought the cooperation of all the ministries for the success of the project.
After a meeting with IT Minister A Raja, Nilekani said that, "I will take some time to announce my agenda (for the project). At present I am looking at all issues."
The former Infosys co-chairman said he would be seeking cooperation of all the ministries, especially the IT ministry, for the success of the project.
The chairperson of UID Authority of India holds the rank and status of a cabinet minister.
The Unique Identification Authority of India has multiple objectives. It will lay down the plan and policies to implement the UID, own and operate a database and be responsible for its updation.
Nilekani has said the UIAI would also create a national network of verification so that a person's identity could be proved.
