Proceedings in Parliament disrupted
Proceedings in Parliament disrupted over price rise, Telangana
 INDIA , 16-December-2009  3:8:15 AM

Proceedings in both Houses of Parliament were disrupted on Wednesday with the entire opposition creating uproar over price rise while the TDP members protested against creation of Telangana state.

Lok Sabha was adjourned twice during the Question Hour and later for the day after passage of three bills within 15 minutes amid din.

Rajya Sabha too was rocked during the Question Hour, forcing its adjournment but normalcy returned after the House re-convened at 1200 hours.

In the Lok Sabha, members from Opposition parties trooped into the Well as soon as the House met for the day.

Members belonging to BJP, Left, SP, BSP and Shiv Sena raised slogans, saying prices of essential commodities were witnessing an increase since the UPA came to power at the Centre.

While NDA members chanted "mehangai ko rok do, warna gaddi chor do (stop price rise or give up power)", SP members were shouting slogans like "luuli langdi yeh sarkar, nahi chalegi, nahi chalegi (lame government cannot run)".

TDP members, on their part, were raising slogans against creation of Telangana and demanding a unified Andhra Pradesh, even as their floor leader Nama Nageswara Rao was not present.

Fissures in TDP were also visible as four of its members from non-Telengana areas were in the Well carrying placards 'We want united AP', while one of their party colleague was seen in his seat holding a placard 'Jai Telengana'.

Some Congress members were also displaying placards 'Jai Telangana' while being seated.

Earlier, Speaker Meira Kumar disallowed the members from raising the price rise issue, saying she had rejected their notice for suspension of the Question Hour as the House had already debated the matter during this session.
