While Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav struck a conciliatory note on Sunday, saying that Amar Singh’s resignation won’t be accepted, his nephew Dharmendra Yadav said Amar Singh had been invited to be the chief guest at the concluding function of the Sefai festival on January 21. “We are confident that Amar Singh will grace the Sangeet Sammelan that day. He has arranged for artistes for the Sangeet Sammelan in the past and we are confident that this year too, the festival will be a great success with his blessings,” said Dharmedra, who is an MP from Badaun.
Sefai is the hometown of the SP chief. The annual festival, which is beginning on Monday, was started by the Mulayam government in 1995. Dharmendra is the chairman of the organising committee, while Mulayam and Ram Gopal Yadav are its patrons. Interestingly, though Amar Singh will be the chief guest of the concluding function, his photograph is missing from the posters and hoardings put up by the organising committee.
