Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday took on the Congress party in one of its strongholds while also targeting West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for his remarks on her. She held a rally to campaign for her candidates in central Kolkata where one of the four district Congress presidents, Pradip Ghosh, is in the fray along with his daughter-in-law Tania against her party.
“I know who are with the CPM and who are not. I also don’t believe in a concept like friendly fight. It is now also clear to me who have already fled the battlefield without fighting the electoral war. I can tell you Trinamool Congress is the only party which could remove the CPM from power,” Banerjee said, hinting that the Congress had betrayed her and is still helping the CPM to stay power for a few years.
In another attack, Banerjee told the gathering “You want to see the collapse of the CPM as we desire. Naturally, don’t spoil the opportunity to remove the CPM and use your vote in a very calculated manner”. She did not, however, mention the Congress by name during her speech.
