Taking a “strategic position” ahead of the September 24 Ayodhya verdict, the JD(U) and BJP have dispelled speculation of any fresh rift in the alliance. While BJP will release the first list of its candidates for next month’s Assembly election by September 24, JD(U) will also do so by the end of this month.
Sources close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar told The Indian Express that Nitish was scheduled to meet JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley during his current trip to Delhi to finalise seat arrangements. “Jaitley and Kumar are likely to discuss undecided seats whose profile has changed after delimitation. Campaigners for the first phase of poll on 21 October can also be discussed," said a Nitish aide.
