AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday denied that he had any “Mission 2012” in UP. It could be mission 2012, 2017 or 2020, but the Congress will form a government only when it gets a majority; it will never form a coalition. Until then, the Youth Congress workers should concentrate on building the organisation and working for people, he said.
Rahul, who was addressing Youth Congress activists, said “Mission 2012” was not his idea, it was a brainchild of media.
This is the first time Rahul has disowned “Mission 2012”, which has been a favourite theme in the speeches of senior UP Congress leaders, including state party president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, since the Lok Sabha elections last year when the Congress had put up a good show.
On several occasions, almost all senior UP Congress leaders have stated that the party is committed to “Rahulji’s Mission 2012”, which is another way of saying that the party wants to win the assembly elections due in 2012
