| After Advani, Gadkari prod, Uma to strengthen BJP in UP

Confirming senior BJP leader L K Advani’s assertion that Uma Bharti would like to contest and strengthen the party in Uttar Pradesh, the Hindutva leader on Sunday said she wanted to extend her political hibernation by a few more weeks.
Reacting to what Advani wrote in his blog on Saturday, Bharti said: “Whatever he wrote is cent per cent true.”
Without elaborating, she told reporters that several developments took place over the last one year but she was forced to react only because Advani went public.
Bharti, who was expelled from the BJP in 2005 and went on to form Bhartiya Janshakti Party (BJS), said she would become active after January 14 (Makar Sankranti) and make her political roadmap clear. In the same breath, she said she was still a member of the BJS but had kept away from its activities for more than a year.
Saying the UP is a politically important state, she said all ideological and political battles begin from UP and described it as “Mandal and kamandal ki bhoomi”.
