| Lalit Modi summoned by Chennai police in funds missapropriation case

| Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has been summoned to Chennai in early January 2011 in a funds missapropriation case filed by Secretary N Srinivasan on behalf the of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The criminal complaint was filed a few months ago with the Chennai Police and mentioned misappropriation of funds, mainly in allotting media rights and free commercial rights.
The complaint was filed in Chennai since the cricket board is registered there. Six others have been issued notices along with him.
After the third season of the IPL came to an end, the BCCI emailed a 34-page chargesheet against Lalit Modi listing 22 charges of impropriety ranging from financial irregularities to rigging bids proxy holdings and kickbacks in broadcast deal.
Lalit Modi was suspended as the IPL Commissioner and issued a show-cause notice capping two weeks of raging controversy over financial wrong-doings in the hugely popular cricket tournament.
