The top leaders of US, Pakistan and Afghanistan would meet here next month for the second tri-lateral dialogue as part of the on-going effort of the Obama Administration to increase the co-operation among the three countries on the fight against terrorism in the region.
The US-Af-Pak tri-lateral dialogue is being held here after a gap of nearly two years. The last one was held within months of Barack Obama being sworn in as the US President.
The meeting was held at the level of Heads of State and was attended by Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.
No other tri-lateral meetings could be held in 2008 because of the elections in Afghanistan and a packed schedule in 2009 wherein Clinton had held three Strategic Dialogues with Pakistan and one with Afghanistan.
State Department spokesman P J Crowley said the tri-lateral dialogue is being held to enhance co-ordination among the three countries
