Cracks within the ruling Left Front are apparent with coalition partners demanding more seats in the coming Assembly polls.
Forward Bloc leader and Agriculture Minister Naren Dey told The Indian Express: “We will soon discuss the issue of more seats with the CPM.”
The RSP, which has 19 MLAs, has gone a step further by claiming that the CPM has lost ground due to its own arrogance. The party has also demanded more seats this time.
“It’s now clear that the Left Front, particularly the CPM has lost ground because of its arrogance and, in our opinion, this arrogance stems from the absolute majority that they have enjoyed for 35 years. This arrogance is apparent in the CPM’s relationship with the other Left Front parties. We believe that in the coming elections we will somehow manage a majority but the CPM will not get absolute majority on its own. And that will be good for the Left Front,” said Kshiti Goswamy, a senior RSP leader and PWD Minister
