New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has nominated Indian-American Sohail Mohammed to serve in a Superior Court judgeship in this State.
If confirmed, Mohammed would be the first Indian-American judge and the second Muslim judge in New Jersey.
The State has a significant Indian-American population.
Mohammed, 47, defended more than 30 detainees after 9/11.
"Mohammed gained the respect of authorities for trying to improve communications between them and the Muslim community after September 11, 2001," said the local New Jersey News Room
