Stressing the need to form a front of like-minded parties, former deputy chief minister and BJP deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde on Sunday pledged to take efforts for an alliance of the Shiv Sena, BJP and MNS in the future.
Munde said the political equations in Maharashtra had drastically changed after 1995 and no party could now form government without the support of another. He said this was why there was a need to form a front of all like-minded parties.
Munde accepted that Raj Thackeray’s MNS was the main reason for the saffron alliance’s defeat in 2009, and conceded that a Sena-BJP-MNS alliance was the need of the day. “People ask me about an alliance with MNS. It looked impossible... but then there is nothing impossible in politics and Munde is here for making impossible possible,” he added. Munde said he will try his best to sort out differences between the Sena and the MNS.
