| No thaw in Cong-DMK talks freeze, Azad returns to Delhi

The Congress and DMK failed to reach a common ground on seat-sharing for the coming Assembly elections with Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad — AICC in-charge for Tamil Nadu — returning to Delhi without holding discussions with CM M Karunanidhi on Thursday as announced late Wednesday night.
Amid the deadlock, the DMK has convened a meeting of its top-level action committee on Saturday, ostensibly to discuss the election manifesto though the stalemate is expected to top agenda.
The talks were apparently stuck over the number of seats for the Congress, the junior ally in the state.
Just before leaving Chennai, Azad said he would inform the high command about the outcome of Wednesday night’s meeting before moving into the next round.
The two parties have only a little over three weeks left to reach an agreement. The elections will be held on April 13.
