| New Delhi: The nine accused in the 2G scam, all chargesheeted by the CBI, are expected to appear in a Delhi court on Wednesday.
During the last hearing, the court had summoned all the chargesheeted men to appear before it today. Out of the 9 accused, that is 9 individuals and 2 companies, four are in judicial custody. The remaining five could be sent to jail today unless the court grants them bail.
A Raja and his team of men from the Department of Telecom (DoT) face charges of conspiracy but the ex-Telecom Minister is the only one facing forgery charges as well.
Former telecom secretary Sidharth Behura, who allegedly shut counters to physically block other telecom companies, faces the same charges as Raja. And so does Raja's Personal Secretary RK Chandolia. They are all charged under the prevention of corruption act for misusing their official position
Apart from politicians and these bureaucrats, there are some corporates too involved in the scam, the top gun among those being Anil Ambani who was questioned by the CBI.
But while he hasn't been chargesheeted, his company ADAG's Reliance Telecom has been.
Crucially, the CBI says it's an "associate" of Swan. It's crucial because two companies of the same group weren't allowed to buy 2G spectrum.
