| Lucknow varsity cancels booking for Anna meet

The Lucknow University on Tuesday cancelled the booking of its conference hall where social activist Anna Hazare was to interact with members of the Lucknow University Teachers Association (LUTA) on May 1.
The LUTA had booked the Malviya Conference Hall for the meeting. “We had planned an interaction with Hazare and members of the civil society. The vice-chancellor today verbally informed us that the booking had been cancelled,” said Dr RB Singh, LUTA general secretary.
The university's Public Relation Officer SK Dwivedi said the action had been taken "to avoid any untoward incident". "The Malviya hall has a capacity of around 350 persons but we believe more people would be coming."
On Monday, the LU administration had turned down LUTA's request to book the university guesthouse to lodge Anna Hazare and those expected to accompany him on April 30 and May
