Most wanted list blooper: Wazhul's name fuels Congress-BJP twitter war
 INDIA , 18-May-2011  7:28:38 AM
India's most wanted 'fugitive' is not wanted any more. Overnight, Wazhul Kamar Khan's profile has been erased from the CBI's most wanted list. This comes after Wazhul, currently out on bail and living in the Mumbai suburb of Thane, was included in India's list of 50 most-wanted fugitives suspected to be in Pakistan.

The Interpol Red Corner notice against Wazhul has also been removed.

The error caused huge embarrassment to the government and prompted the BJP to slam Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

What followed was a war of words on Twitter between Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj and Chidambaram's son and Congress leader Karti Chidambaram.

Sushma Swaraj posted on Twitter, "The Home Minister has embarrassed the country."

"The inclusion of Wazhul Khan's name in India's 'MOST WANTED' list submitted to Pakistan is an unpardonable mistake."

To this, Karti replied "If an error of compilation is termed by Jaitley, Swaraj as mark of incompetence, what is their take on Advani's record as Home Minister."

He defended his father saying that Wazhul's name appearing on the list was "An error of compilation, but nothing compared to the embarrassment of having our Parliament attacked under LK Advani's watch"

Union Home Secretary GK Pillai on Tuesday said the Home Ministry takes responsibility for the error and will issue a fresh statement once it finds out how the error happened
