| In a major tragedy, 22 people were killed in a bus accident in Vellore in Tamil Nadu.
The incident occurred when the private bus was trying to avoid hitting two lorries which had collided earlier. In the process, it hit a culvert, overturned and caught fire. The incident took place at Avalur on the Chennai-Bangalore national highway late on Tuesday night.
There were 24 people on the air-conditioned bus, but only the driver and a passenger survived the accident.
The bus was on its way to Tirupur at the time of the accident.
